Mini Theatre "Travels of Issa and mind"
This unique theatre style presentation uses a combination of video, audio, holographic imaging, and highly detailed dioramas take you on a journey through Issa’s life.

Issa’s lifetime
We picked several impressive episodes of Issa’s life from his childhood to his last years. Along the timeline wall you will find several dioramas made with intricately detailed wooden figures. These fun and color displays will introduce you to the major events that helped to shape Issa’s life and his writing.

Issa and Takayama
Featuring many of Issa’s haikus that he wrote while in Takayama along with depictions of the scenes and seasons that inspired these works.

Issa’s Last Work
On permanent display is one of the three parts of Issa’s work. Titled “Father’s Last Diary”, this priceless hand inked Iboku (a heartfelt message to the world written for others to read after the author dies) has been on display in the Japanese National History Museum in Tokyo.

People around Issa
Many works from other writers and famous people that lived during Issa’s time.

Animation 「Father’s Last Diary」
An animated feature that tells the story written in Issa’s diary about his father’s sickness and his death after seven days of suffering.

Issa’s Guesthouse
Originally belonging to Shunkou Kubota, one of Issa’s pupils, this guesthouse has been moved to the museum and preserved in its original form. This traditional Japanese thatched roof structure is available for viewing as well as haiku gatherings and special events.
